Trip cancellation and interruption coverage. Single-trip trip cancellation is not eligible if the trip is valued over $20,000/person (or over $12,000/person with a disqualifying condition).
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions
Whether a pre-existing condition is covered depends on the applicable product, the eligibility requirements, and the policy wording. Uses an absolute 12-month condition disqualification list rather than a stability period for emergency medical eligibility; a medical questionnaire is required at age 60+.
TravelStar Emergency Medical Single-Trip
Eligibility uses a fixed 12-month absolute disqualification list (heart/vascular, cancer, transplant, dialysis, lung, liver, kidney, ADL) rather than a stability-period test. Medical questionnaire (Section B) required at age 60+.
TravelStar Emergency Medical Multi-Trip Annual
Same 12-month absolute disqualification eligibility model as single-trip. Not eligible if age 80 or older at time of application. Medical questionnaire required at age 60+.

Requires confirmationExcludes losses from pre-existing conditions not stable for 180 days. Full stable-period definition and reference date for this product not included in the documents reviewed — flagged for human review.
Medication Changes
Starting, stopping or changing a medication can affect whether a condition is considered stable. Some products permit routine adjustments; others do not. Check the product-specific wording.
TravelStar Emergency Medical Single-Trip
Requires confirmationGMS uses a 12-month absolute disqualification list rather than a stability-period test. A new diagnosis, treatment or medication change (other than a Coumadin/Warfarin dosage adjustment) in the last 12 months for certain listed conditions disqualifies eligibility. Confirm the full list in the medical questionnaire.
TravelStar Emergency Medical Multi-Trip Annual
Same 12-month absolute disqualification model as the single-trip emergency medical product. A Coumadin/Warfarin dosage adjustment is permitted; other medication changes for listed conditions may disqualify eligibility. Confirm in the medical questionnaire.
TravelStar Trip Cancellation & Interruption
Requires confirmationTrip cancellation excludes losses arising from pre-existing conditions that were not stable for 180 days. The full stable-period definition and reference date were not included in the documents reviewed and require confirmation before relying on them.
Important Eligibility Considerations
Major verified eligibility requirements. This is not the complete contract — confirm your eligibility through the insurer's official application or medical questionnaire.
TravelStar Emergency Medical Single-Trip
Requires confirmationEligibility is assessed through a 12-month absolute disqualification list (not a stability period), including: awaiting tests/treatment for a heart condition; surgically untreated vascular aneurysm; diagnosed CHF; has an ICD; new diagnosis/treatment/medication change in the last 12 months for heart transplant, atrial flutter, atrial/ventricular fibrillation, peripheral vascular disease, stroke/TIA or blood clots; insulin-treated diabetes AND taking heart-condition medication (excluding cholesterol/BP meds); home oxygen or oral steroid for a lung condition; currently treated for cancer (excluding breast/prostate cancer treated only with hormone therapy); new diagnosis/treatment/medication change in the last 12 months for liver failure, AIDS, GI bleed or terminal illness; valve surgery/replacement, kidney dialysis or organ/stem-cell/bone-marrow transplant in the last 12 months; age 70+ requiring ADL assistance. This summary is drawn from the documents reviewed and is flagged for confirmation — confirm the current list in the official policy and medical questionnaire. A medical questionnaire (Section B) is required at age 60+.
TravelStar Emergency Medical Multi-Trip Annual
Requires confirmationSame 12-month absolute disqualification eligibility model as single-trip. Not eligible if age 80 or older at the time of application. A medical questionnaire is required at age 60+. Confirm the current eligibility list in the official policy.
TravelStar Trip Cancellation & Interruption
Requires confirmationSingle-trip trip cancellation is not eligible if the trip is valued at more than $20,000 per person, or if valued at $12,000+ per person and the traveller meets any item on the same absolute disqualification list used for emergency medical eligibility. Confirm the current eligibility rules in the official policy.
Emergency Assistance
Most insurers require you to contact their assistance line before, or shortly after, receiving non-life-threatening care. Failing to do so may reduce what they pay. In a medical emergency, always call the assistance number on your insurance card.

- Older travellers subject to different stability periods
- Travellers planning an extended stay
