Pre-Existing Medical Conditions
Whether a pre-existing condition is covered depends on the applicable product, the eligibility requirements, and the policy wording. Stability periods differ between NomadX and Nomad+ and by age; a Quebec disclosure rule also applies to NomadX.
NomadX
Stability 90 days (age 59 and under); age 60+: 90 days for cholesterol/high blood pressure/diabetes, 180 days for other conditions. Quebec: pre-existing-condition exclusion does not apply unless disclosed in the medical questionnaire.
Nomad+
Requires confirmationUnder 60: 90-day stability. 60+: a 120-day and a 365-day stability period appear in the same source document for the same band — flagged for human review; do not rely on either until reconciled. Heart and lung conditions carry additional 90-day exclusions regardless of the general stability period.
Medication Changes
Starting, stopping or changing a medication can affect whether a condition is considered stable. Some products permit routine adjustments; others do not. Check the product-specific wording.
NomadX
Requires confirmationThe policy's stability definition treats a change in medication as breaking stability; no routine-adjustment carve-out is documented for NomadX. Confirm the medication-change wording in the policy before relying on it.
Nomad+
Requires confirmationNo product-specific medication carve-out is documented separately from the general stability framework. Confirm the medication-change wording in the Europ Assistance policy before relying on it.
Important Eligibility Considerations
Major verified eligibility requirements. This is not the complete contract — confirm your eligibility through the insurer's official application or medical questionnaire.
NomadX
Eligibility requires: at least 15 days old (Single-Trip) or 15 days to 85 years (Multi-Trip); a Canadian resident with provincial health insurance; a physician has not recommended or scheduled tests, investigations or surgery that are not yet completed; not travelling against physician advice; no terminal-illness diagnosis; life expectancy not 12 months or less; no heart, kidney, liver, lung or bone-marrow transplant; no kidney disease requiring dialysis; no assistance with activities of daily living required.
Nomad+
Requires confirmationMulti-Trip Comprehensive plan: the applicant must be at least 30 days old and no more than 84 years of age at time of purchase. Other eligibility requirements follow the Europ Assistance General Terms and Conditions — confirm them in the policy wording.
Emergency Assistance
Most insurers require you to contact their assistance line before, or shortly after, receiving non-life-threatening care. Failing to do so may reduce what they pay. In a medical emergency, always call the assistance number on your insurance card.
NomadX
Emergency assistance line: 1-888-928-7855. Contact assistance before seeking non-life-threatening care, and keep your insurance card with the number on it while travelling.
Nomad+
Emergency assistance line: 1-888-777-6513. Contact assistance before seeking non-life-threatening care.
A note on accuracy. Some provisions on this page are flagged for confirmation because the source documents were unclear, incomplete or in conflict. Where an item is marked "Requires confirmation," do not rely on it until you have checked the current policy wording or spoken with the Snowbyrds Concierge.
Who Should Read the Policy Carefully?
This page is a summary to help you understand the provider. It is not the insurance contract. Before purchasing, read the full policy wording — especially if any of the following apply to you:
- Travellers with pre-existing conditions
- Travellers whose medication has changed recently
- Travellers with recent tests, referrals or treatment
- Older travellers subject to different stability periods
- Travellers planning an extended stay
