Emergency Medical Coverage
Verified emergency medical coverage maximums and deductible options, by product. Limits and deductibles can differ between products from the same provider.
Emergency Medical Insurance (Worldwide, Single-Trip & Multi-Trip Annual)
Emergency medical up to $5,000,000 CAD
Emergency medical coverage up to $5,000,000 CAD. Available as single-trip or multi-trip annual. If the traveller is not covered by a provincial/territorial health plan at the time of a claim, TuGo's liability is capped at $50,000.
Emergency Medical Insurance (Travel Within Canada)
Emergency medical limit varies — confirm in the policy wording.
Emergency medical coverage for trips within Canada. No pre-existing-condition stability requirement applies to domestic-only plans.
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions
Whether a pre-existing condition is covered depends on the applicable product, the eligibility requirements, and the policy wording. Stability periods scale by age and trip length (7/90/180/365 days); no stability requirement applies to travel-within-Canada plans. Medical questionnaire required at age 60+.
Emergency Medical Insurance (Worldwide, Single-Trip & Multi-Trip Annual)
Age 59 and under, trip 35 days or less: 7-day stability. Age 59 and under, trip over 35 days: 90-day stability. Age 60-74: 180-day stability. Age 75+: 365-day stability. Medical questionnaire required at age 60+; an inaccurate questionnaire adds a $15,000 USD extra deductible rather than voiding the policy.
Emergency Medical Insurance (Travel Within Canada)
No pre-existing-condition stability requirement for travel-within-Canada plans.
Medication Changes
Starting, stopping or changing a medication can affect whether a condition is considered stable. Some products permit routine adjustments; others do not. Check the product-specific wording.
Emergency Medical Insurance (Worldwide, Single-Trip & Multi-Trip Annual)
The policy's stability definition treats medication changes as breaking stability. Confirm whether routine adjustments (such as insulin or blood-thinner dosage) are permitted in the current policy wording before relying on it.
Emergency Medical Insurance (Travel Within Canada)
No pre-existing-condition stability requirement applies to travel-within-Canada plans, so medication changes do not trigger a stability test for this product.
Important Eligibility Considerations
Major verified eligibility requirements. This is not the complete contract — confirm your eligibility through the insurer's official application or medical questionnaire.
Emergency Medical Insurance (Worldwide, Single-Trip & Multi-Trip Annual)
Eligibility requires: a Canadian resident; not travelling against a physician's advice; not diagnosed with a terminal condition; not receiving or recommended for palliative care. If the insured is not covered by a provincial/territorial government health care plan at the time of a claim, TuGo's liability for medical and related expenses is capped at $50,000, regardless of the policy's $5,000,000 maximum.
Emergency Medical Insurance (Travel Within Canada)
Same residency and terminal-condition eligibility requirements apply as the worldwide plan. No pre-existing-condition stability requirement for domestic-only plans.
Emergency Assistance
Most insurers require you to contact their assistance line before, or shortly after, receiving non-life-threatening care. Failing to do so may reduce what they pay. In a medical emergency, always call the assistance number on your insurance card.

Who Should Read the Policy Carefully?
This page is a summary to help you understand the provider. It is not the insurance contract. Before purchasing, read the full policy wording — especially if any of the following apply to you:
- Travellers with pre-existing conditions
- Travellers whose medication has changed recently
- Travellers with recent tests, referrals or treatment
- Older travellers subject to different stability periods
- Travellers planning an extended stay
